On PATRICK WOODWARD

PATRICK Woodward, creative werks’ Controller, joined the team in 2013 after working for several years at Potbelly Corporation and Ernst & Young as a Senior Auditor.  Patrick is a CPA and is a Krannert School of Management graduate from Purdue University.  He drives a hybrid, electric car and tunes into NPR's, "Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me" when he's not number crunching, working on his 130 year-old house, or running after his two young boys.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  I lived there from 1st grade all the way through high school.

What was your first week like at creative werks?

It was like drinking from a firehouse.  A lot of information in a short period of time.  I had a lot to learn about the business as a whole, not to mention getting to know everyone and understanding the current processes.  Plus I spent some time shadowing Justin Arnold on the production floor at Bensenville…..so that was interesting.

What was your favorite Christmas present as a child?

The present I remember the most is when my brother and I received the original Nintendo NES.  Still remember my first time playing Super Mario Brothers.

What do you think has been mankind's greatest invention?

The printing press…..or the game of baseball; really a toss-up there.

Do you have any irrational fears?

I don’t have any irrational fears but I have a strong irrational dislike of other people’s feet.  I don’t know why but they gross me out.  I don’t even like to think about what it would be like to be a podiatrist.

What is the first thing you would do if you were the sole survivor on earth?

The first thing I would do is to find a peaceful place outside to think and try to figure out why I am the sole survivor.  Then I would probably grill a steak.

If you could have anything wrapped up under your Christmas tree this year what would it be?

More hours in a day.  I know it’s impossible but it truly is what I want most.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

Being late to anything.  It drives me crazy when I am late.

If you would give any piece of advice to someone about to graduate college what would it be?

I would quote John Wooden:  “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

What do you think creative werks will be like in ten years?

I think in 10 years’ time we will be a much larger company and will be packaging multiple products for which we don’t even currently have the equipment for today.
